Volunteering

Can you spare an hour or two, to do some Volunteering?

We are looking for volunteers to help deliver our Volunteer Cars service.

If you have some spare time on your hands, you like driving, and you want to help local people through volunteering, please read on.

Our goals are to promote individual independence, help reduce isolation and alleviate loneliness for people in our local community. Our team of volunteers are integral to the success of how we meet these goals. Enabling people to get out of their homes and do things for themselves is essential and our services are a lifeline for our many members.

If you would like to join our team, please feel free to contact us for an informal chat, either by phone 020 8968 2040 or email.

More about the service you will be helping to support

The Volunteer Cars is a one-to-one car service driven by volunteers, who use their cars or one of ours to drive local people where they want to go.

The service is offered to Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster elderly and disabled residents who are members of Westway CT.

We receive a booking from a Westway CT member and then call you to check if you can assist. We give you the details, and away you go. It’s that simple!

Our members might be elderly, disabled or just need a hand to get out and about to do what they need to do.

See our Instagram video below, demonstrating just how easy the volunteer driving role is.

Pippa Middleton drives one of our members to a local appointment.

Do you want to give something back to your community? Volunteering is an excellent way for you to do this. You will have the opportunity to meet people, learn new skills and gain work experience. You can offer as much time as you like, fitting the commitment into your plans. We reimburse expenses and provide training.

See our FAQ page for answers to questions you might have.

Would you like to join our team of Volunteers? If yes, you can download a Volunteer Driver Application Form and send it to us via email.

If you would like to know more, please email us directly.  You can call our team on 020 8968 2040 weekdays between 9 am – 5 pm if you have any questions.

Our Volunteers

Our existing volunteer base spans a broad cross-section of society, and our volunteers vary in age and background, some might be retired with spare time on their hands, and some are students or have a disability themselves. Most people who join our team are interested in building their confidence and skills for a career change or gaining general work experience for employment.

Volunteering can be a hugely rewarding experience, and there are many benefits:

  • It’s a great way to make new friends and connect with local people
  • Increase your social skills and self-confidence
  • Can provide you with a sense of purpose
  • Help you to stay active
  • Volunteers are often the glue that holds a community together

We don’t just look for Drivers and Passenger Assistants, now and then an office based position may become available.
